Young People’s Mental Health

Oopenspace understands the pressures faced by young people relation to mental health and wellbeing. They may stem from family, school, peers as well as personal struggles.

We focus on engaging, educating and empowering young people to take care of their mental health throughout school and into the workplace, strengthening friendships and peer support networks. Friends and peers are often the first persons to notice when a person is stuck, in pain or struggling to navigate the phases of life. They are also the first ones to celebrate successes and to hold each other accountable. Therefore, a skilled and compassionate friend is a valuable resource in mental health.

Oopenspace peer support training helps participants to understand the role of peer support in mental health and what they can do to support each other.

“Always remember that for every patient you see, you may be the only person in their life capable of hearing and holding their pain. If that’s not sacred, I don’t know what is.” - Unknown
