At Oopenspace, we believe no-one should struggle or suffer alone. Nobody should be ashamed, stigmatized, isolated or ostracized.
People who have mental illnesses and challenges state that one of their greatest challenges is stigma and discrimination from friends, family, neighbours, colleagues and strangers. We will persist until each person in need get psychosocial support.
We aim to influence attitudes and behaviour towards people with mental health -so that they can get confidence, get help, restore functioning and live in dignity.
1 in 4 people will experience a mental health challenge this year. They may not get help the much needed help because of the shame and silence around mental health and mental illness. Change someone’s life – Listen, Affirm, Refer and Support.
Opening up is not easy. If someone you know is acting different, ask. Sometimes they will say they are okay. Ask twice.
Let’s change conversations and dialogue about mental health.
"Words of comfort skillfully administered are the oldest therapy known to man. ~Louis Nizer"
“Always remember that for every patient you see, you may be the only person in their life capable of hearing and holding their pain. If that’s not sacred, I don’t know what is.” - Unknown
